Nowadays, search engines are crawling the web pages in a totally different ways and the results that come back to you are arranged according to a long and complicated criteria most of these factors are present on the page itself while others are off the page.

So, if you are in the process of optimizing your webpage then you need to take some steps in order to see your page jumping forward in the Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs).

Let us browse through an extended list of factors that you need to take care of when you optimize your page especially for Google search engine.

Page title keywords:

search engine spiders are smarter now, they crawl through your page titles looking for the search words accurately so you need to put a page title for every page of your website. When you do this make sure that you include the right keywords in that title so the search engine can find it easily. Put the head tag followed immediately by the title tag. Do not use irrelevant words as the engine will ignore it.

URL keywords:

search engine bots look for the Key words in the URL. One of the problems that you may face is the multiple word key phrases, as you know spaces are not allowed in the URL so if you want to use a key word that consists of more than one word then put them separated by hyphen. Do not do this for many times in the URL as this may be considered as spamming just to drive more traffic to your webpage. In this case the search engine may ignore your page.

Domain name with Keywords:

this is little bit difficult to do as you should be so lucky to get your primary word in the domain name. also, if your key word is more than one word then the domain name would be very long and you need to separate these words with hyphens.

Heading tags keywords (H1, H2, H3):

generally heading tags are more important than the content itself so make sure to arrange your content according to the key words entered into the heading tag.

Meta description tags:

the meta tag is your business card to the search engine. It is a summary for your web page and it also appear in the result page under your name. it should not exceed 200 characters and pin point the exact page content.
Meta keywords tag: this is not a priority in the words of optimization but it may be an adjuvant to your other keywords in the different spots all over the website.

IMG tags and keywords:

it is obvious that text inside the image would only be treated as an image, the search engine will not read it. So, if you need to add some keywords to the image then you may add it to the ALT description but do not over do this and stuff the ALT description with many words.
Anchor text: this is important spot; you need to add your key word to the anchor text link either internal or external.

Page content:

this is the most important section of your website. The content is where the search engine spiders crawl. If you are looking for regular visits from these spiders then you need to update this content on regular basis. The frequency of updates determines the frequency of search engine visits.

Text format:

whenever you find it appropriate, underline and bold the key words of the text, also you may upper case the first letter and put some bullet lists in your content to aid the search engine bots.

Website directory:

structuring your website map should be as simple as possible. Try to keep it flat with most of the branches coming from the root directory instead of branches coming out from other branches.

Keyword rate:

it is really important to know how to distribute your key words and phrases all over your web site. Do not put them all in one paragraph of the page and leave the other spots empty, you need to do this in a balanced way and keep the keyword density into moderate rate.

Multiple worded key word:

if you have a multiple word key word then you may want to put them together after each other. This helps the search engine to find you easily.

Link validation:

you should make sure that all the links attached to your website either those pointing to it or taking people out to another page are all working. Do this on regular basis and your rank in SERP will increase exponentially.

Link stability:

you should also make sure that there is no link churn occurring with your document. All the links in your document should point to right places.

Site age:

when it comes to age the older is more respected. If you are adding some new content or even new pages to an old website, it will be recognized faster than a new website just published a week ago.
Take care of these points while you optimize your pages and you will get the first page rank in a record time.
